Marisa R. Lincoln
Marisa Lincoln is a licensed California attorney who has been practicing law since 2004. She has dedicated her career to serving public entity clients. Marisa spent 18 years specializing in labor and employment and investigation matters for K-12 school districts, community colleges, county offices of education, and charter schools. This experience makes Marisa uniquely qualified to understand both employer and employee rights, student issues, and the nuances of investigating complex and sensitive matters concerning students, employees, and board members. Marisa also has experience in conducting investigations for municipalities, including those involving sworn officers, and private employers.
Prior to founding LWI, Marisa was a partner in a large education law firm where she co-chaired the firm’s Investigations Practice Group. She assisted clients with drafting various complaint policies, advised on Title IX issues, and frequently conducted investigation-related trainings.
Education and Certifications
Marisa is a member of the Association of Workplace Investigators (AWI) and obtained her AWI-CH in 2023 at AWI’s Santa Barbara Training Institute. She is also certified as a Civil Rights Investigator (Levels 1 and 3) through ATIXA.
Marisa received her Juris Doctor from University of the Pacific, McGeorge School of Law (2004) and earned a Bachelor of Arts in Communication Studies from the California State University, Sacramento (2000).

Marisa is known for her engaging and energetic teaching style and has conducted workshops for countless clients and organizations including, but not limited to, the Association of California School Administrators (ACSA), California Association of School Business Officials (CASBO), California Council of School Attorneys (CCSA), and Association of Chief Human Resource Officers/Equal Employment Officers (ACHRO/EEO).

Marisa is a member of the Association of Workplace Investigators (AWI). Marisa also currently serves as the Immediate Past- President of the California Council of School Attorneys (CCSA), where she has been on the Board of Directors since 2018.
Marisa was named by Super Lawyers Magazine in 2013 and 2014 as a Northern California “Rising Star,” a designation given to less than two and a half percent of lawyers.
